Ringing application
We recommend using a headset (headphones with an attached microphone) for talking via AmboCarta. But surely you don't want to wear a headset all day to hear a ringing visitor. Here you'll learn how to use our ringing application that notifies you of incoming calls using your computer's speakers - and not the headset.
How does the ringing application work ?
The application needs to be installed on your computer. After installation, you'll set the device to ring on incoming calls. Then the application waits for incoming calls in your "task bar" (windows computers) or "dock" (Mac computers). It rings when you receive a call on your virtual card table. The virtual card table must stay open, too, and you need to have the status "idle" in the catalog for this.

Installing the ringing application under WINDOWS

You can immediately execute the installer. You will be asked some questions in the dialogs to follow. When you accept all of them, the software gets installed and presents you the settings window after starting. You'll find the software in your application menu under "AmboCarta".
Instaling on MAC OS X

A finder window will present you an icon. Double-click it to install the application. You will be asked some questions in the dialogs to follow. When you accept all of them, the software gets installed and presents you the settings window after starting. You'll find the software in your applications folder under "AmboCarta".
Settings
There are only two settings to adjust. You can make the software start automatically after each start of your computer, and you can select the device to ring. Click the "Test" button to find out which is the current ringing device.
It's ringing !
When your virtual card table is open and you're "IDLE" in the catalog, a visitor will call you. Now the ringing application calls you loudly. As soon as you accept or reject the connection, the ringing application will stop ringing. You may also click into the ringing application's window to stop the ringing, but that won't accept or reject the visitor's connection attempt.
Updates
From time to time the ringing application may inform you about an available update. We advise you strongly to always use the latest version of the ringing application. We don't offer updates for no reason. Installing an update basically works the same way described in the installation paragraph above.
