First steps with your card table

In the beginning, you need to select a card deck to work with. On the top border of your table you'll find a menu bar. Click Cards and select a card deck you like to use. Now the card deck will be loaded an put face-down on a pile.

Selecting a card deck

Now when you hover your mouse pointer above the cards, buttons will appear that show you all actions you may perform on the pile. They are: Draw a card, shuffle, cut cards and spread all cards.

Saving spread layouts

AmboCarta lets you save your spread layouts so you don't have to lay out the cards one by one each time again and again. Just select Spreads–Save from the menu. Then give your spread layout a file name - and if you wish an author name, title and some notes, too. Then click the tick mark to save it. Saving a spread layout will only save the positions of cards, and not which exact card is at that position. Later, you'll be able to lay out cards from a freshly shuffled pile with this spread layout, which will result in a different reading each time.

Need more space ?

If there is not enough space for your spreads and you drop a card near the border of the table, translucent bars will appear. Hovering your mouse pointer above those bars will move the table. For laying out spreads, you may want to lower the zoom factor of the table. Do do that, select a zoom level from the menu under View–Table zoom.
